Temari Balls – Fun to Make!

Temari is a Japanese traditional  embroidery craft that originated in China. These brightly colored balls are given to children by their parents on New Year’s Day . There will be a goodwill message written and secured inside the ball and the recipient will never know what the message says.

Sometimes a pebble or a small bell will be placed inside in the initial stages of making.

They are a symbol of loyalty and deep friendship so can be given to any close friend, too.
